During two weeks in November 2006, the inhabitants of Stavanger were given the opportunity to communicate through telart's own telephone system. More than 1000 people left messages at telart_automats commenting on issues ranging from gossip and declorations of love, to moral philosophy and social activism. All these messages were distributed to anonymous telephone users in the Stavanger erea, as well as being used in a sound installation at Tou Scene. Setting up a perverted of the telecommunication system we all know and take for granted enabled telart to intervene in a social manner, to alter the discourse of communication, if only for a brief period of time and in a limited amount, in one local community.
